Workshop on improving your conservation area

The council is putting on a workshop to improve conservation areas in Reading. See below for a message from the Redlands/Park Neighbourhood Action Group about getting involved. Let me know if you're interested (rob@readinggreenparty.org.uk) and I can put you in contact with Peter who chairs the NAG.

"Redlands NAG along with other community groups in Reading has been working with the Council to review the status of conservation areas in Reading, many of which lie in our NAG area. The Council is being advised by Historic England, part of what was previously known as English Heritage, to identify what action can be taken to protect the Conservation Areas.  Arising from this, a workshop has been organised, to train local volunteers in carrying out appraisals of the conservation areas, so that action needed can be identified and followed up.  The NAG has been offered a small number of places at this workshop for local residents who would be willing to get involved.
The workshop is being held on Wednesday 24th February 2016 and runs from 9-5pm.  It is being held in the Mayor’s Parlour in Reading Civic Offices, Bridge Street.  There is no charge for the event and there will be a follow up half day event on the morning of 6th April.
If you would be interested to attend or would like to know more, please contact Peter Kayes, NAG Chair on the email address below so that these places can be allocated.
The NAG is a group of local volunteers who work with other locally based organisations including the University, Hospital, Council and Police for the benefit of and to represent the concerns of local residents. The NAG covers an area of Reading from the London Road in the north to Christchurch Road in the South, Wykeham Road in the east to Kendrick Road in the west, plus the Whiteknights campus of the University of Reading. Also included in the area are the London Road campus of the University of Reading and the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

More information about the NAG can be found via http://www.uknags.org.uk"
